I qualified from the institute of Complementary Animal Therapies in 2004 after studying Canine and Equine massage Therapy. I also hold a certificate in Canine Psychology. I am a member of the Animal Massage Association and am also their canine press secretary. I attend regular workshops to obtain continued professional deveolement including Animal Aromatics and Kinesiolgy and Bach Flower Remedies.I also provide regular workshops and presentations to several organisations. I own dogs myself a Rhodesian Ridgeback and a Border cross Bearded Collie which keep me very busy with long walks in the New Forest and regular training sessions at the local dog training club.
What you can expect from a therapist.
Before any massage can be carried out veterinary consent must be given. After that has been achieved the first appointment can be made. The first appointment will generally last roughly about 2 hours. An indepth medical history will be taken and the animals movement will be assessed. A therapist will never diagnose illness or injury but will advise on further veterinary treatment if needed.
The massage itself will last as long as the animal is happy. We let them tell us when they have had enough but generally they last about one hour. As it is a new experience for a lot of animals it may take them a while to accept it.
I cover Hampshire, Dorset, Berkshire, Surrey and West Sussex areas a mileage charge is in place. I also attend shows and racetracks for per and post event massage.
